Anne of Windy Poplars/Willows
About the Book

First published in 1934 by McClelland and Stewart
“You’ve made me happy… you are always making people happy. Why, whenever you come into a room, Miss Shirley, the people in it feel happier.” - Anne of Windy Poplars ch. 13
Anne of Windy Polars was written 14 years after L. M. Montgomery had completed the Anne series. It deals with the period between Anne’s engagement (Anne of the Island) and marriage (Anne’s House of Dreams), when Anne taught high school in Summerside, PEI. The book is partly a collection of letters from Anne to Gilbert, and partly as a series of episodes and anecdotes focusing on Anne’s new students, neighbours, and friends, whose lives and romances Anne changes through her unquenchable spirit.
Anne of Windy Polars is the fourth book in the series of Anne novels and short stories.
